why liminal estates?

Lim·i·nal

  1. occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.
"I was in the liminal space between past and present"

  2. relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process.

"that liminal period when a child is old enough to begin following basic rules but is still too young to do so consistently"

As I was studying cultural anthropology in college I became increasingly intrigued by the word Liminality. This word gives presence to an overlooked place in time and space. It is where magic happens. It is a time in between the phases when a boy becomes a man, during cultural ceremonies. It is the space that occupies a threshold between your door and your foyer. It is the delicate space during a physical or emotional transition. In my 20’s I dreamed of building a community village to be deemed, Liminal Estates. It wasn’t until I began hosting Estate Sales that my “Ah-Ha” moment happened. Liminal Estates was being built in the background of my life all along.

Liminal Estates provides the ease in your transition. I provide culminate knowledge on the most practical and fiscally advantageous ways in order to transition your belongings through that Liminal Space- from your hands into the next.

Hi, I’m Carly-Ann Cropper.

Whether you are responsible for an estate and need to liquidate, are downsizing to a smaller home, or simply want to declutter and start fresh. I understand that this can seem like an impossible task- I’m here to help.

I can thank my great-grandmother Henrietta for my love of antiques. Growing up surrounded by her treasures sparked my curiosity, where did these come from and what’s their story? My appreciation for these treasures grew as I grew. Having the newest and latest to keep up with the Jone’s became the standard in our culture. This way of life leaves an enormous amount of items being produced only to live in a landfill when someone wants to remodel for that seasons trends. Gone are the days of inheriting your grandmothers china.

Realizing that our society has changed by placing importance on convenience over craftsmanship, I knew I had to keep these treasures alive. I founded Liminal Estates as my way of helping to preserve the stories, breathing new life into these items, and keeping less in the landfill.

While working in Northern California as a real estate agent I was given the opportunity to help a client with an estate sale clean-out. This is when I fully stepped into my higher calling. I realized on that first job that I was MADE for this business. My years of collecting and reselling across the country gave me an incredible amount of knowledge that can only be gained by the years I put into reselling.

With every client I work with, I am also working with my great-grandmother as it is her who unknowingly helped light my spark through her love of antiques. So I treat each one of my clients with the appreciation garnered from Henrietta.
